What would Spain be without sea and beautiful coasts?
The northern coast of Costa Bravo is a zone of vast beaches with famous tourism centers. Certainly, what a man does not like the sea, especially with beaches covered with golden sand? And diving, such a poplar sport, which gives one a unique opportunity to have a look at what’s happening inside the sea, various fishes and other marine wonders.
As for hotels, they are in abundance in the southern coast of Barcelona. It is splendid that hotels of Costa Dorado function on the “all inclusive” basis.
What can I advice you? Of course, a hotel with a marine name Grand Marina of 5 stars in the Barcelona’s port with essential sea-side or Old Town views. The lazy can spend their time near the swimming-pool on the roof of the hotel, and the view is so wonderful that you can not tear your glance away.
But my favorite feature of this Barcelona Hotel is the collection of works by modern Spanish artists, especially in the vanguard style. Barcelona Grand Marina Hotel is also located in such manner that you easily get to the Gothic district of Barcelona and famous pedestrian street of Barcelona - Rambla, not to mention Barcelona’s sights.
I will probably not surprise anyone with the fact that Costa Bravo attracts so many tourists by its beauty and mild climate, and such a strange mix of beaches and precipices. But the real name of Costa Bravo – “the wild coast” - can be understood only after a walk decently far away from the stylish Barcelona hotels.
By the way, you will find even special programs for families with children in the hotels, especially children like hotels near the sea because of aqua parks, mini-zoo Aqualeon, Marineland with dolphins. And they even carry out real knighttournaments sometimes. As you understand, Costa Bravo is full of entertainments not only for kids but also for grown-ups.

I wrote a lot about different sights but not about Barcelona itself :))

Now some common information about the city:

Barcelona consists of three parts: the Old Town, the New Town and ex-suburbs. A tourist will find all components of a modern city: metro, the University of 15th Century, opera theatre, astronomic observatory, museums, Zoo and many others. Names of streets, stations and etc. can be in two languages both Catalan and classic Spanish. Although these two languages are quite alike, you should be careful as some words may be misleading.

So, the rest of this post I would like to dedicate to shopping-lovers, as there is a hint where it is better to stay if one likes shopping.

My friend often used to stay at the America hotel in the downtown of Barcelona in 15 minutes from the airport. The downtown is the commercial part of the city at the turn of the Old Town with narrow streets and flat-roof houses, and the New Town with right-angled quarters, wide green avenues you will find whatever you like here from super-markets to bars, restaurants with moderate prices. The hotel’s location is convenient also because of proximity to the station Passeig de Gracia and Avinguda Diagonal (Diagonal Avenue). As I did not stay at this hotel myself, I will simply list you the facilities of the hotel and its rooms. A tourist can find the restaurant, outdoor pool, solarium, sauna, currency-exchange, car-rent and comfortable rooms with air-conditioner, TV, wireless phone, and even a coffee-machine in mini-bar.

In this area there is one more hotel in modern style with high-quality service - Hilton. I can tell it from personal experience. As I was there on business trip during cold season, heating and Internet-connection were very important to me, and they were excellent.
The hotel itself is a great place for conferences, congresses and other gatherings of that kind: there are 18 (!) conference-halls at this hotel, all quipped with all necessary computers and video devices. The administration even will assist you in holding of business talks, of course, if you have something to talk about and somebody to talk to.
Well, these were some useful notes about Barcelona hotels.

By the way, do you know that Avinguda Diagonal is named so because of the look of this avenue of the city map: it really divides it into two almost equal parts like a diagonal of some quadrangle, and is the longest and the most beautiful street. Moreover, Diagonal Avenue is an area of business activity, of sky-scrapers, the University campus, and some sports arenas.

One more sight of Barcelona is the biggest oceanarium with a plenty of aquariums and a terrarium. When you going through transparent tunnel, huge fishes, especially sharks, swimming right near and above you… it’s really impressive.

As I have written, Barcelona has a wide network of hotels of any number of stars, comfort and cost. And now I know that stars do not show you real quality but different complementary facilities as a restaurant or pool at the hotel and air-conditioner with mini-bar in the room itself. Anyway, the prices depend on starship, season, location and etc. It is significant that you meet kind attention and service and most probably find not only pools but sauna, massage saloon, hair-styling saloon, boutiques, discos in addition to the standard set.
But if there is no restaurant at the hotel then breakfast will be served in the cafe.

In this post I’m going to write about Arts Barcelona hotel from which my first acquaintance with my love - Barcelona - began.

Arts Barcelona hotel is one of the best hotels in Barcelona, located not far from the centre of the city near the opera theatre and the museum of modern arts. Extra-modern style of this building’s architecture with luxurious interior design makes the hotel look like an elegant palace. As I like spaciousness and coziness I was happy to see that the hotel meets my wishes from the large hall to interior of the room. Besides there is an open-air terrace with the view of the Mediterranean Sea, watching of which became my favorite way of spending time at this place.

What else to add? You will find everything you want here: restaurants, bars, cafés, outdoor and indoor pools, gym, sauna, hairdresser’s, parking. In your room you will find TV, radio, phone, mini-bar, safe, bathroom with a marble bath, mirror, hair-dryer and even scales. The latter is not what I used a lot, especially because it was my vacation… you know what I mean.
Meal is convenient here as there is a smorgasbord at the hotel.
And a splendid fact for families is that your children from 2 to 11 years may stay with you free of charge, though you will have to pay for their breakfast.

One more convenient thing about this hotel is its location near the Ciutadella station, from which you can begin your study of Barcelona as I once did. I have visited Montjuik Hill that time, where there is a marvelous view of tiny Barcelona spread before my eyes.
