About a month ago my sister’s close friend asked me if I know any great budget Barcelona hotels. She was going to celebrate her 30th birthday in Barcelona. She wanted a 5 star hotel somewhere near the beach. And, as I have heard excellent reviews about Eurostars Grand Marina Hotel GL, I advised her to stay there. She promised me to write about her impressions about the hotel. Soon after her birthday, I got a letter from her. Here it is:“My husband and I were looking for an excellent Barcelona hotel for a short break to celebrate my 30th birthday. We followed your advice and booked rooms in Grand Marina Hotel Barcelona. And I must say that we were so pleased that we did it, we spent a few wonderful days in a room with spectacular and breathtaking views.

From the very first minute of our arrival we were surrounded by friendly hotel staff. They were always there ready to help and look after us. They spoke excellent English. We arrived at the hotel at 10.30 a.m. and we were taken to the first floor lounge by the waiting staff. We were offered two glasses of champagne. A girl at the reception desk quickly checked us in and brought us to our room. Our luggage had been waiting for us there. I was a little bit disappointed that our room didn’t have a balcony. And when my husband asked if there was any possibility to get a room with a balcony, the hotel personnel were very accommodating and a wonderful room with a balcony was provided! I just wanted my birthday to be perfect and my husband did his best to treat me…”

 I haven’t written for quite a long time, but now I am back to continue reviewing my favorite city of Barcelona – its hotels, places of interest, culture, food, architecture, traditions and the way people live here. I love Barcelona for its dynamic way of life and style. And I am not the only one who fell in love with Barcelona. Judging by the increasing number of tourists and visitors, Barcelona seems to be one of the most desired destinations in Europe. And it’s no wonder that they prefer Barcelona to other Spanish cities: the amazing architecture, especially the unique architectural style of Gaudi’s masterpieces, will surround you and plunge you into wonderland; huge collections of works by Picasso and Miro will amaze you even if you are not an art admirer; beautiful beaches just minutes on foot from the city centre will attract sun worshippers; the creative spirit and generous hospitality of the local people will fascinate you; authentic Basque and Catalan cuisines heavily influenced by seafood available from the waters that surround the country will satisfy the most fastidious gourmets. For all these reasons more and more people come to Barcelona which, in turn, caused the growing number of Barcelona hotels being constructed all around the city. Since the 1992 Olympic Games held here, Barcelona has a wide range of accommodations, which include high-end Barcelona hotels, boutique Barcelona hotels, budget and cheap Barcelona hotels together with tourist apartments, youth hostels, campsites on the outskirts and halls of residence.

I continue reviewing Barcelona hotels for all those interested in the subject.Senator Barcelona Spa Hotel is a 4-star Barcelona hotel located in the highest part of Barcelona, very near the Nou Camp football stadium, approx 600 metres up the road. Senator Barcelona Spa Hotel is easily reached from the Prat de Llobregat airport (15 minutes) and from Barcelona’s Sants train station (5 minutes). Senator Barcelona Spa Hotel is not a city center hotel, but the area surrounding the hotel is very pleasant and the metro station (Collblanc metro station), which is excellent value and reliable, is within walking distance from the hotel. Hotel guests can also use a bus to get to the city center – the bus stop is nearby.

A good acquaintance of mine stayed in this Barcelona hotel, he praised it a lot and recommended it for tourists looking for 4-star accommodations in Barcelona. In case you decide to settle in Barcelona Spa Hotel, book rooms in advance, because it is very difficult to find a room in Barcelona on a short notice. Almost all hotels have no vacancies during the weekends and peak seasons. There are 4 meeting rooms and a business center in Senator Barcelona Spa Hotel. People coming here for some business reasons will be able to combine work with pleasure. Acquaplaya Spa with its grotto-like fruit bath and eucalyptus sauna is at your disposal, as well as an outdoor swimming pool with good views over Barcelona.

My friend’s room wasn’t too spacious but included a good bathroom, large comfortable bed and air conditioner. Free mini-bar was a pleasant surprise. There also was a safe, satellite TV with more than 30 channel, hi-fi with CD player, coffee maker and ironing table.

Buffet breakfast was not included and my friend had his meals out of the hotel in the nearby cafes, so he can’t comment on the food served in Senator Barcelona Spa Hotel.

The hotel staff was very-very friendly and always ready to help, so don’t hesitate and choose this Barcelona to spend a wonderful weekend in Spain.
